Maple spread, a veritable institution in Canada under the name “maple butter”, is made from 100% pure maple syrup. For the right texture, bring the maple syrup to the boil. This thickens to a semi-solid material. This material must then be rapidly cooled to obtain a paste that can be spread on fresh or toasted bread, croissants or even pancakes. Whatever its name, “maple butter” or “maple spread” can also be eaten with a spoon!
